Reasonable timescales
Summary: Reasonable timescales
I received a call from a social worker last week regarding a review. He asked to visit the following day; however, I already had prior commitments in my diary. I explained that I was unavailable, and when he asked if I was busy all day, I confirmed that I was. I feel there can sometimes be an assumption that individuals receiving social care are always at home and not working. I work and I do need reasonable notice to arrange time around appointments. In addition, due to my autism, it is particularly important that appointments are arranged around my established routine. Short-notice changes can be difficult for me to manage, so having agreed dates and times in advance allows me to prepare properly and reduces unnecessary stress.3 March 2026
